Nonlinear waves: Applications to biological and Physical Systems
This project is devoted to the application of nonlinear differential equations to describe different propagation and growth phenomena in physical and biological systems. In addition to our classical research topics related to physical applications, the main goal of this project is to develop an integrative mathematical approach to model the response of a tumor system to new therapeutic strategies. We will focus on key aspects of the tumor microenvironment, such as its metabolic landscape and cell signalling pathways, to spot new biomolecular and physiological targets that can be modelled by using nonlinear ordinary/partial differential equations and optimization techniques. We have identified three precise scenarios suitable for analytical, numerical and computational study that display promising clinical applications.
