Mutations, understood as genetic alterations, are able to change a cell's genetic material. Changes in genotype are related to modifications in external features, so mutations provide a source of variability.
They play a key role in many important biological processes, such as evolution, or antibody synthesis. But they may also be harmful, as they are related to several diseases, including cancer as the most widespread one. In this talk we will address their causes, the different types, and how they could affect organisms, for better or worse.
