The Spanish society of friends and family of neuroblastoma patients (NeN) will be funding a student to work at MOLAB during 2021 and 2022.
The project, entitled "Optimization of cellular therapies in Neuroblastoma through mathematical modelling" will developed in collaboration with Niño Jesús children's Hospital at Madrid. The first goal is to develop optimal therapeutical protocols of administration of the novel therapy Celyvir. This is a treatment with mesenchymal stem cells loaded with a virus having anti-tumor activity that is already in test in the hospital. A second goal is the mathematical of CAR-T cell treaments of the same type of cancers, trying to incorporate neuroblastoma specificities in the modelling and leading to novel hypotheses for the improvement of these promising therapies.
The project will be lead at MOLAB by Juan Belmonte-Beitia (professor, UCLM) and Arturo Álvarez-Arenas (postdoc, UCLM) with the participation of MOLAB researchers Odelaisy Leoón-Triana (PhD student, UCLM), Gabriel F. Calvo (professor, UCLM), María Rosa Durán (Assistant professor, UCA), Álvaro Martínez Rubio (PhD student, UCA), Salvador Chulián (postdoc, UCA) and Víctor M. Pérez-García (professor, UCLM).
