The Spanish League against cancer (AECC) is the largest private funder of research in Spain. The local section of AECC (Junta Provincial de Ciudad Real) has awarded a PhD fellowship to Carmen Ortega Sabater. She will develop a research project on evolutionary dynamics applied to treatment optimization in glioblastoma.
Carmen will study in-silico the evolutionary dynamics of intratumor heterogeneity in glioblastoma subpopulation with the goal of improving treatments. Her research will include validation of the theoretical concepts with proof-of-concept experiments in animal models and the use of human data. The goal is to find optimal treatment protocols in-silico delaying the most the development of resistances while at the same tima maximizing tumor control and minimizing side effects.
Her research at MOLAB will be supervised by Gabriel F. Calvo and Víctor M. Pérez-García, senior group members.
