Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación creates Multidisciplinary Workgroup

The Spanish Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación has created a Multidisciplinary Workgroup to advise scientific discussions related to COVID-19 and its future consequences. Mathematics and Statistics are represented in the Multidisciplinary Workgroup by the CEMat President, Alfonso Goldaliza.

More information here.

Workgroup: back to normality

The aim of this workgroup is to propose medium/long term research related to the health crisis caused by COVID-19, which may be of interest to those responsible for decision-making in public institutions.

Cooperative prediction

We have constructed a meta-predictor to provide the government with information about the short-term behaviour of variables of interest in the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The procedure involves predictions from different models/algorithms provided by participating researchers, and constructs optimised combinations of these predictions, disaggregated by region.

See results of the predictions

Currently there are more than forty groups of researchers participating. We continue to appeal to all researchers interested in collaborating in this collective intelligence and pandemic effort to provide a document with their predictions in accordance with the guidelines outlined in the following documents.

Mathematics against coronavirus

The Spanish Committee for Mathematics, CEMat, is promoting the initiative Mathematics against coronavirus. In this initiative, our goal is to use the analysis and modelling skills of our community in order to create a better understanding of the COVID-19 health crisis. Currently, the activities of this initiative include:

  1. To collect links and contributions of the Spanish mathematical community about the virus spread on the website.
  2. To promote discussion in the community using the contributions from researchers and groups, and involve a variety of models and techniques.
  3. To establish a Committee of Experts to evaluate the collaborations and, eventually, will report conclusions and suggestions to the authorities.

Any material you would like to contribute should be uploaded to a local repository and sent to  cemat.covid19@gmail.com

The documents submitted to this website are made public with the consent of the authors. The author is responsible for the content of the documents they upload.

CEMat will assume the responsibility of the final conclusion derived from this initiative.

Call for researchers

We announce an appeal to the Mathematics and Statistics community to make all freely accessible data and microdata available to this initiative.

Also, all researchers are encouraged to publicise that confidential information will be respected when allowing access to this data.
